Insights that Inspire Every Author’s Journey

AMOTHER'S PLEA TO GOD AND TO HER CHILDREN

The title of the book Lovingly and Orderly was created by prayer that the mother wrote. Pauline K. Shorter was the matriarch of her family. She raised three girls and two boys on the Near West Side of Chicago next to the Illinois Medical Center District. This was a place regulated for all “colored” folks to live during the time of the Great Migration in Chicago. Raising them to be God-fearing children and to abstain from evil was not easy as she was only parent guiding her brood. When she needed help she called Theodore (Ted) who was always there in her time of need.

As the children grew older, they all went their own way ignoring their mother. It took her hospitalization, being kept alive on a ventilator to bring her children back to her. Jealousy reigned in the hearts of the four siblings. An older sister took charge even before their mother’s death; she managed through malicious betrayal to leave Ted out of everything. It took an unnecessary ptotracted probate court battle for what his siblings had done.

This book is definitely a true-life, unique and suspenseful account by a devoted son. The names have not been changed to protect the innocent. The storyline is based on an investigation inside one of the largest court systems in the United States of America. Another aspect of his book that makes it one of a kind is because it is TIMELESS.
What happened in this book connects us with other families around the world. It is a clear understanding of how vulnerable families are to our society that cannot administer love or order at a critical time at time when it is needed the most.
The author reflected on a quote to his beloved mother that she always used to say, “Charity begins at home and spreads abroad.”
